Managed forests, our best climate ally
The Iberian carbon credit standard that certifies active forest management: planting is necessary, but protecting and caring for the +15 M ha already forested is decisive.
The cost of not managing
Spain already has the forest. What it lacks is management.
More than 15 million forested hectares need active management to be truly sustainable.
- More severe and extensive wildfires
- Massive loss of stored carbon
- Biodiversity degradation
- Erosion and desertification
- Rural abandonment and depopulation
- Less available fuel and lower fire risk
- Greater long-term CO₂ capture and retention
- Resilient, biodiverse forests
- Protected soils and clean water
- Green jobs and rural life
Ex-post vs ex-ante
Buy credits with real, traceable impact
A clear distinction between ex-post credits (measured and verified; valid for residual emissions) and ex-ante credits (estimated for future management; a contribution, not neutrality).
Ex-post credits
To offset residual emissions, with documented public cancellation by registry ID.
Prerequisites
- Verified GHG inventory
- Active reduction plan
- Residual emissions only
Ex-ante credits
To contribute to forest management that prevents fires and accelerates future capture.
Characteristics
- Estimated, not measured
- Subject to later verification
- Includes a buffer reserve
- Does not allow neutrality claims
All our packages include verified ex-post credits, ideal for offsetting residual emissions.

Nature Positive+ rating
How we award the stars
We recognise companies that reduce first and offset afterwards: from 1 to 3 stars according to the percentage of verified reduction and the coverage of residual emissions with credits.
Mandatory baseline criteria
Every level requires meeting these criteria before the assessment.
- Verified GHG inventory from the last 2 years
- Active, documented reduction plan
- Offsetting of residual emissions only
- Use of retired and cancelled Nature Positive+ credits
- Transparent and verifiable communication
| Level | Reduction | Offsetting |
|---|---|---|
| 1 star First level of recognition, for companies starting their journey towards sustainability. | ≥10% | ≥5% |
| 2 stars Intermediate level, showing a solid commitment to emissions reduction. | ≥20% | ≥15% |
| 3 stars Highest level of excellence in climate management and responsible offsetting. | ≥35% | ≥30% |
Indicative thresholds based on 2020 emissions. The assessment takes real, verified progress into account.
Carbon Neutral Nature Positive
A special certification for organisations covering 100% of their residual emissions with Nature Positive+ credits that have been retired and publicly cancelled.
- 100% coverage of residual emissions
- Annual independent audit
- Traceability with public cancellation IDs
Who we are
Four pillars that define the standard
We were born to finance quality forest management with independent verification, a public registry and full traceability. Aligned with European frameworks and ISO.
Climate integrity
Independent verification, public registry and a buffer reserve against natural risks.
Transparency and traceability
Every credit has a public ID. Open documentation and full access to project information.
Territory and co-benefits
Forest management that creates rural jobs, protects biodiversity and prevents fires.
Continuous improvement
Regular audits, quality control (QA/QC), uncertainty management and safety buffers.
Anti-greenwashing measures and compliance
- Verification under international standards (VCS, Gold Standard)
- Public registry of every credit issued
- Full traceability by unique ID
- Buffer reserve against fires, pests and extreme climate events
- Compliance with ISO 14064 standards
What people usually ask us
What is the difference between ex-post and ex-ante?
Ex-post credits are measured and verified after the carbon capture has taken place: they are the only type valid for offsetting residual emissions and they include public cancellation by registry ID. Ex-ante credits are estimates about future forest management and serve to help finance projects, but they do not amount to climate neutrality.
What prevents greenwashing?
Verified prior emissions reduction, independent verification of the credits, a public registry with tracking IDs, a buffer reserve against risks, and using credits only for residual emissions.
What happens if there is a fire or a pest outbreak?
Active forest management significantly reduces the risk of severe fires and pests. On top of that, we hold a buffer reserve that compensates for any eventual losses, guaranteeing the integrity of the credits issued.
Which claims are allowed?
With ex-post credits and a verified GHG inventory you can state that you have offset your residual emissions, quoting the cancellation IDs. It is not permitted to claim neutrality using ex-ante credits, nor to claim offsetting without a GHG inventory or without a reduction plan.
Who can buy credits?
Companies can buy ex-post credits to offset residual emissions after implementing a verified reduction plan. Organisations can buy ex-ante credits as a contribution to forest management. Individuals can buy any type of credit as a voluntary contribution.
How does traceability work?
Every credit has a unique public registry ID. You can check its status (issued, transferred, cancelled) and access all the project documentation: verification reports, the methodology applied and cancellation certificates.
Why management and not just planting?
Planting is necessary, but Spain already has more than 15 million forested hectares that require active management. Forest management reduces fire risk, improves long-term carbon capture, protects biodiversity and creates sustainable rural employment.
